In my previous publication I noted very clearly that May 27th of each year is Children's Day in Nigeria. As Kingdom minded teens and kids, I wish to share with us as a mark of appreciation the efforts of St. Pirans Anglican Church, Jos, Plateau State in celebrating her Children, during the Children's Day celebration.
I will through this present publication share with you how the Church, the St. Pirans Anglican Church, Jos, celebrates the Children's Day by ensuring that the original concept of the day is not loss but retained in the Church and in the life of her numerous Children. The Church has as an Institution firmly rooted to promote the ideals of the Christian Faith in every ramifications, continuously through the Children's Day celebration activities shown in character and principles that St Pirans Church on the Plateau, is a place for the Children.
Living worthy, long lasting and Christ centered impressions in the memory of the child (inside and outside the church) have remained the preoccupation of the church, as deductible from the children's Day activities organized in the church by the church for the children of the church in particular and other children generally.
Recall, as stated in an earlier publication that what culminated as the Children's Day and celebrated Globally though on different days as Children's Day was started long ago by a Pastor,Charles Leonard, who saw the need to originally conduct Church services for the children on a particular day. Suffice to say therefore that the St Pirans Church in Jos, has lived up to the original reason for commemorating the children's Day in Nigeria and several other parts of the Globe each year.
At the St Pirans Anglican Church, Jos, this event occurs on the Sunday after May 27th or on May 27th if it falls on a Sunday. The roles specifically and deliberately reserved by the church for the children in commemoration of the children's Day celebration activities are:
Reading of the Bible lessons,
Performing the tasks of the:
Guild of stewards,
Vicar's Verger,
Vicar's Warden and
People's Warden.
The above roles are in addition to the opportunity provided for the children to make presentations, ranging from Christ driven and success oriented play lets, talk shows, and song renditions, dance choreography and lots more.
To crown the efforts of St Piran's Church in promoting the Annual/yearly ritual of children's Day celebration in the Church, a teacher from the children's ministry is appointed to give the sermon which focuses on -
The Christian Child, and the need to save the unsaved Child from eternal damnation.
After the service, the children are then treated to very sumptuous meal, made up of different dishes, and supported generously with various types of snacks and drinks.
