ST. PIRANS YOUTH WEEK PICNIC 2020: TREASURE HUNT AND CHALLENGE OF TEAMWORK

Before the great search began

Dear friends, recall that in the previous post we discussed the mind tasking miming game: the charade which according to the Cambridge Advanced Learners Dictionary means:

"A team game in which each member tries to communicate to the others a particular word or phrase that they have been given, by expressing each syllable or word using silent actions"

I had enjoined you to take a little break, ponder and send the lessons you learnt from the write-up. In this post, I wish to share with us the treasure hunt game. Please read and send in lessons learnt from it.

In case you didn’t read the last post, please click this link to access it http://onesquarebell.blogspot.com/2020/09/st-pirans-youth-week-2020-and-mind.html and as always send in the lessons learnt.

Very wonderful rendition: wish you were there

My report of the St. Pirans Youth Week Picnic 2020, continues below…

When the break ended, the participants of the St. Pirans youth week Picnic 2020 were called together for the continuation of the program. The next item was also a game. It was a treasure hunt.

In the game, each group choose a leader. The leaders collected papers from the MC, which contained a sentence on them with the theme of the St. Pirans Youth week 2020: THE CROSS highlighted. This was a hint to get to where another paper was hidden which had another clue that was to lead them to a gift. The papers were hidden in different places inside the room. The house that got the gift first, won, and the gift was presented to them.

The rules of the Treasure Hunt game were:

  •  Think abstractly
  •  Carry everyone in the group along.
  •  Getting to the gift first without carrying everyone along will not attract any marks.
  •  The house that carried everyone along and gets to the gift first wins the game.

After the rules were read out to the participants, the Groups set to work, each eager to win. After some minutes of serious searching, the members of blue house announced that they had found the gift, which was later confirmed to be true. The Group was awarded the winning prize (the gift).

Dearies, what lessons have you drawn from the two games? Please send them to this Platform, so that others can learn from them.

St Pirans Church youth activities: the kids were not left out

Other games: Whot, Scrabble, Chess, Monopoly, Volleyball and the crowd puller, a Football match, was played. The program ended by 4 PM and everyone headed home happy and refreshed.

Please, remember to send your reports and stories… we’re all waiting eagerly to learn from them.

Till I come your way next time, Stay safe.
